Name: James Howland
Position: Queensland Regional Manager
Do you have past experience within the safety/PPE industry? If so, where and how long??
I have experience selling Safety and PPE in my previous role with BOC as a Territory Manager. I was with BOC for 8 years.
What will be your main focus in your new position?
Ensuring that there will be more face to face contact with the end user. Elliott’s have always had strong brand recognition and equally strong representation when it comes to our distributors, however due to stretched Territories and internal vacancies we have not been able to cover all areas of QLD as thoroughly as we would like. This has resulted in missing some key opportunities to work with the people who are using our products day to day. With a National Manager in place to handle the other States, 100% of my time and focus will be devoted to QLD alone, therefore strengthening our brand and providing the technical support needed in the field.
Why are you excited to be part of the Elliotts team? I am excited to be a part of a business which already has a highly regarded / well respected brand in the Industrial market space. This year marks our 50th anniversary which is a huge milestone for an Australian owned business in today’s economy. The fact that Elliotts are still heavily investing in their people and their products tells me that this company is looking to grow and after meeting the people who make up this family owned business I am really excited to see how much growth we can achieve in the next 5 years.
What’s the best aspect of your job?
The fact that I get the opportunity to network and partner up with such a vast range of Distributors across Queensland and help them strategize and drive sales in their local areas. This gives me insight and exposure to our small independently run businesses in regional towns right through to the large global companies who are looking for ways to grow market share in a very challenging climate.
What’s your favourite Elliotts Product?
My favourite products would be our Tecasafe range of shirts and coveralls. With all the risks and danger that comes with working with flammable materials and electricity, I’m glad that there is a range of protective clothing within my grasp that looks after the best interests of our workforce. I have several mates who are electricians in Brisbane and I truly believe that all tradesman in this field should be kitted up with our Tecasafe clothing. This range of protective clothing really touches on our company values of getting you home safely from work.
What do you do when you’re not working?
When I’m away from work I am either surfing up the coast, riding motorcycles, watching every sporting event I can or catching up with mates.
