Custom safety vest developed with valued construction industry partner.
A long-time customer in the construction industry reached out to ORR to request help with an issue. They had specific requirements for a safety vest but the price was exuberant. After a successful partnership with ORR for many years, they wanted to work together to create a better vest at a less prohibitive cost than similar ones on the market.
We listened as our customer explained their needs and what was important to them. Workers were required to carry a tablet with them at all times but few vests on the market had pockets large enough. Carrying something the size of an iPad in your pocket put strain on the stitching as well as on the worker’s neck. The customer shared their ideal vest design and ORR worked with a trusted manufacturer to make it a reality. As a result, ORR and our construction partner created a heavy-duty vest with front pockets large enough to hold an iPad, reinforced stitching and a padded neck for comfort. This safety vest is unique, with nothing quite like it on the market today.
ORR created custom protective clothing for pulp and paper industry.
ORR Safety was challenged by a pulp and paper customer to design one garment to replace multiple personal protective equipment pieces they used. The products they were wearing were heavy, hot, uncomfortable and impractical. It required employees to change clothes numerous times per shift to be appropriately outfitted to address each hazard they encountered during their workday.
Our challenge was to find or develop a single piece of protective clothing that would replace multiple garments used in a variety of harsh environments. This new garment would have to protect workers from heat and chemical splash, but also be lightweight, durable and comfortable to wear. Clothing that could meet these requirements would improve protection, agility and efficiency while reducing fatigue.
Once we understood the complexity of the hazards and needs of the workers, we reached out to trusted suppliers to help us brainstorm a solution. It was during this process that we found a material we thought could meet the requirements. After nearly a year of successful testing along with an overwhelming positive response from their workers, the XP MAX protective safety wear was born.
