Asthma is a chronic heterogeneous inflammatory disorder of the airways with mixed lymphocytic and myelogenous infiltrates. Cellular characterization of this disorder has identified 4 phenotypes: eosinophilic (T2), neutrophilic (T1), mixed eosinophilic/neutrophilic, and paucigranulocytic.
