Almora: A couple in Almora’s Lat village tied the knot wearing PPE kits after the bride tested positive for coronavirus hours before the wedding. The marriage was solemnised in the presence of eight guests after the district administration allowed the bride to sit for the wedding rituals on Thursday.
The bride had gone for Covid-19 test at the Almora Base Hospital two days ago after complaining of symptoms. After her report returned positive on Thursday, Harish Kanwal, district president of Kisan Morcha, intimated the district officials of the situation. “The groom had come from Vijapur (Uttar Pradesh) and the stage was already set for the nuptial ceremony. Taking cognisance of the family’s request, we provided PPE kits and made sure that the wedding rituals are being carried out in strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols,” said Seema Vishwakarma, sub-district magistrate, Almora.
The bride and groom, their parents and siblings, and the pundit donned PPE kits during the rituals. After the ceremony, the bride was quarantined.
